Buch-Trailer zu „Papercraft: Design and Art with Paper“

(Youtube Direktpapercraft, via Notcot)

Ich liebe diesen Trailer zum neuen Buch „Papercraft: Design and Art with Paper“, das Video gibt’s in besserer Qualität auf der Website vom Gestalten Verlag und wer mir verrät, wie der fantastische Track ab Minute 1:30 heisst, gewinnt ‘nen Keks.

From playful and whimsical to downright painstaking, paper is resurging among young artists and designers worldwide as an experimental material for design. This video teaser for Gestalten’s upcoming book, Papercraft: Design and Art with Paper, showcases the often bright, punchy and pop-culture-relevant work from artists Jeremais Boettcher, Julien Vallée, Asif Mian and more — who employ techniques as simple as cutting and folding to cutting-edge like embossing and laser cutting.

A true best-of collection, the book gathers the most extraordinary creations independent of discipline; all demonstrate reaching towards new artistic heights. An accompanying DVD includes printable templates for creating paper toys plus a curated selection of stop-motion animations.

Trons Bit zum Selberbasteln

tronbit

Aaaaaaaw!

From 52 to 48 with Love Teil 2: Angrigami

angrighgfami

from52to48withlove generated wonderful, heartfelt and poignant responses in the form of pictures, comments and emails. However, as it became more widely circulated, it also provoked intense anger and outrage. Buffering the project from this anger became a bit overwhelming, and pretending it didn’t exist seemed silly.

Angrigami is an attempt to devour the entire carcass, bones, bile and all.

Paper-craft Batmobile Recreates Tumbler From The Dark Knight

Despite wanting desperately to watch The Dark Knight, I still haven’t gotten a chance to rush out to my nearest movie theater and bask myself in the two-or-so-hours of nerdgasmic delight I know is waiting for me. So as the stellar reviews pour in from the papers and from friends, I need to find creative ways to scratch that Batman itch. Like papercraft! Here’s an amazing Batmobile Tumbler design created by paper model expert Claudio. With hundreds of individual pieces, I bet this thing will distract me until my man in shining (black rubber) armor whisks me off to the cinema.

Porn has always wanted to be science fictional, ever since the influential Barbarella. Weird aliens or “cyberpunk” touches can help to liven up otherwise repetitive porn scenarios. How do these chitonous creatures pass crucial survival information from generation to generation with no language, memory or visible leadership? How can animals without sentient thought get down to business, and even multitask when they need to? The answers could lead to a better understanding of all complex systems, from the brain to the Web. Thanks, ants.

TP: Mediale Gewalt verhindert reale Gewalt

McSweeneys Open Letters
“An Open Letter to a Guy I Work With Who Always Comes Into My Office To Tell Me He Sent Me An Email Right After He Sends Me an Email.” by Jason

Dear Louis,

You’re a very nice man and I do enjoy working with you. The fact that you own a donkey and a rooster makes me laugh. I don’t know many people who own a donkey and a rooster who don’t also live on a farm. You’re sincere and there is not a whit of vitriol in your body. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you mad. Often you share your lunch with me when you can’t finish it.

That’s why this is difficult for me.

Every time you come into my office I already know what you’re going to tell me. You’re going to tell me that you sent me an e-mail. And usually, just about the time you’re walking into my office, the boingy sound that I set up to alert me that I have received an e-mail is boinging. Or it boings right while you’re standing there. Then we say the same things: You say, “I just wanted to let you know I sent you an e-mail!” I say, “Yup, just got it.” And then you say, “Great, thanks! Just wanted to let you know!”

I know you’re a bit older and not technically inclined. I know you still use words like “facsimile” and “teleconference.” But here’s the thing with e-mail. When you send me one, I get it. That’s the whole point of it. Really. It’s why they invented it. So you can send me stuff electronically, and I can get it.

I want you to know I dream of killing your donkey.

Sincerely,
Jason
