Weil ich grade mal meine iTunes-Bibliothek gelöscht habe um Ordner und Daten neu zu sortieren und abzulegen und dann wieder alles zusammen in iTunes zu schmeißen, dabei aber ein Shuffle angedockt war und der automatisch mit der Bibliothek gesyncht wird… ist die Sau jetzt ebenfalls leer. Argh. Kann man dieses dämliche Autosynch irgendwo abstellen? Ich hab’ nix gefunden.

Die Lücke zwischen in der Film-Verwertungskette zwischen DVD und elektronischen Medien schließt sich weiter. Die Werke großer und kleiner US-Filmstudios wird es künftig zeitgleich mit dem DVD-Start als Download im iTunes Store geben, kündigte der Computerkonzern Apple am heutigen Donnerstag an.

Now, Apple has ascended to the top of the charts, surpassing Wal-Mart for the first time ever, according to an NPD MusicWatch Survey for the month January contained in an internal Apple e-mail which was leaked to Ars Technica but has not been officially published.
Songbird, the open-source music player that makes finding music easy online, has been updated with new features and bug fixes.
The latest version, released Wednesday, is called developer’s preview 0.5, but don’t let the name fool you. Songbird has been stable for years, although it occasionally runs a bit slowly.
If you’ve been looking for a new way to listen to music on your computer, Songbird has a lot to recommend it. Unlike iTunes, which Songbird’s developers have ridiculed as being too much like a spreadsheet, the program contains an unrestricted web browser for streaming and downloading tunes from music blogs and other sources, many of which are included as links or bookmarks within the program.
The argument is a simple one. “Apple has a monopoly,” Pakman told me Friday, citing their US market share at 80 percent. Companies in that situation have to play by a “different standard,” especially when it comes to anything that could be construed as “tying” (recall that Microsoft was accused of exactly this sort of tying when it rolled new “features” like Internet Explorer into Windows and then had to deal with years of litigation).
“If every iPod comes with [the hypothetical service], that’s tying,” Pakman said. eMusic and others would certainly bring the matter to regulators’ attention. But what if the new service is optional? Would that still be tying?
Apple steckt derzeit in Verhandlungen mit den Majors über eine iTunes-Flatrate. Die könne man sich in zwei Modellen vorstellen, einmal als klassisches Musik-Abo, wie es mobil beispielsweise Napster oder Jamba anbieten (weshalb ich bei der Aussage der Financial Times über ein „radical new business model“ eher schmunzeln musste), aber eben auch als iPod-Premium-Lösung, in der man einen bestimmten Betrag beim Kauf des Players draufzahlt und damit uneingeschränkten Zugriff auf die iTunes-Library erhält.
Laut Financial Times verhandelt Apple derzeit bereits konkret mit Vertretern der Musikindustrie über ein neues Musik-Vertriebsmodell, das auch Nokia unter dem Titel “Nokia comes with music” bereits Mitte des Jahres 2008 einführen will: Dabei würde der Preis für einen unbeschränkten Zugriff auf Musiktitel des iTunes-Katalogs direkt im Kaufpreis für iPhone oder iPod versteckt.

Ich prophezeie einfach nochmal,
dass der Amazon-MP3-Store iTunes im Jahr 2008 gewaltig Feuer unter’m Hintern machen wird. Weil man sowieso Bücher und DVDs über Amazon einkauft und dabei einfach mal ein paar MP3s mitnehmen kann. Ohne DRM. Im Grunde sogar einfacher als P2P. Und genau das ist ein Riesenvorteil für Amazon.
Das is’ doch ein bißchen was, würd’ ich mal wagen zu behaupten.

War mir ja auch schon aufgefallen, dass das Teil im Stand-Alone-Betrieb ruckelfrei läuft. Da hat er ja nochmal Schwein gehabt, mein iPod, wa? Jetzt frage ich mich, wo ich ein altes iTunes herbekomme. Jemand ne Idee?
