id Software hat heute bekanntgegeben, Doom 4 für die Xbox360, PS3 und PC entwickeln zu wollen. Noch sucht man nach passenden Gamedesignern, das Game kommt also sicherlich frühestens 2009.
id Software today announced that it has begun production on Doom 4, and is now in the process of expanding its internal team of developers to work on the shooter sequel.
“Doom is part of the id Software DNA and demands the greatest talent and brightest minds in the industry to bring the next installment of our flagship franchise to Earth,” said id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead in a release.
“It’s critical for id Software to have the best creative minds in-house to develop games that meet the standards synonymous with our titles.” (Shacknews, danke Nils!)
Und ich verwette jetzt schonmal meinen Arsch darauf, dass die Gewaltdiskussion während des Release von GTA 4 nichts gegen das war, was uns bei Doom 4 erwartet. Angesichts der Grafik von Doom 3 und den Aussichten auf die Optik bei einem Shooter nach Doom-Prinzip (fehlende Weitsicht, dadurch bessere Texturen und mehr Polygone, Bump-Mapping) auf den Next-Gen-Konsolen erwarte ich beinahe fotorealistische Zombies und Motorsägen. Und dann reden wir nochmal über Killerspiele.
Ich schätze ja mal, wenn morgen die Änderung des Jugendschutzgesetzes durchgewunken wird, dass Doom sowieso sofort auf einer entsprechenden Liste landet. Ist dieses Posting dann eigentlich illegal? Egal, ich hol’ schonmal die Motorsäge. Und einen hab ich noch:
