Mashed in Plastic – The David Lynch Mashup Movie

wp9a37a2ed

ZOMG!

Hell, yeah!

Und nicht vergessen: If you’re playing the film on your fucking telephone, you will never in a trillion years experience the film.

(Youtube Direktiphone)

David Lynch has created some of the most sustaining and psychogenic fugue-inducing films of our day. The man is a singular entity.

The soundtracks he has created and compiled for these films are often as confounding and compelling as the images they accompany.

To honor his films, their soundtracks, and their soundscapes, we of 1086 Productions and our collaborators devised Mashed in Plastic: the David Lynch mash-up album, a collection of sounds from David Lynch films mixed together with other songs. The album is a continuous flowing whole, encompassing the breadth of Lynch’s filmic career.

And now, the coup de grâce: 1086 Productions’ own esteemed Gavin (The Reborn Identity) has created video to accompany every single track, every single sound, on the audio album. Each of the eighteen videos (plus added bonus extras!) is a foray into the mind of Lynch. Each of Gav’s creations, while honoring the films of Lynch, also give us sight into an alternate universe, one in which Lynch’s dames, dwarves, and demons dance among the pop glitterati and multifarious others.

Now go inside and dwell awhile with the others . . . then see if you can find your way back out.

The Kleptones – Voodoo Sabotage plus neue Videos zum David Lynch-Mashup-Album

The Kleptones – Voodoo Sabotage (The Prodigy – Voodoo People vs Beastie Boys – Sabotage, MP3), Kleptones-Website

Aaaaaaw!

According to research by psychologists at UC Santa Barbara and the University of British Columbia, exposure to the surrealism in, say, Kafka’s “The Country Doctor” or Lynch’s “Blue Velvet” enhances the cognitive mechanisms that oversee implicit learning functions. The researchers’ findings appear in an article published in the September issue of the journal Psychological Science.

“The idea is that when you’re exposed to a meaning threat –– something that fundamentally does not make sense –– your brain is going to respond by looking for some other kind of structure within your environment,” said Travis Proulx, a postdoctoral researcher at UCSB and co-author of the article. “And, it turns out, that structure can be completely unrelated to the meaning threat.”

Sesame Streets Monsterpiece Theater goes Twin Peaks, äääh… Twin Beaks

(Youtube Direktlynch, via Anne)

Fantastisch!

David Lynch Tribute Mashup-Album

Hell, yeah! Hier mein bisheriger Favourite „I’ll be there in Twin Peaks“ von Colatron und dessen fucked up Liner Notes.

(Youtube Direkttwinpeaks)

The Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There” slows and melts into Angelo Badalamenti’s “Falling,” the theme music for the “Twin Peaks” series. In it, we hear Donna ask, “Do you think that if you were falling in space that you would slow down after awhile or go faster and faster?” To which Laura responds, “Faster and faster. For a long time, you wouldn’t feel anything. Then: burst into fire. Forever. And the angels wouldn’t help you. Because they’d all gone away.”

Lynchian metaphysics. A staggering topic, informed thoroughly by the human heart, human soul, human understanding and misunderstanding. The image evoked is a spacebound Alice, not yet in Wonderland, Laura Palmer falling from her own grace and that of her quiet town, a place burbling with subcutaneous demons. Maybe Michael Jackson, his adult self crying out for release from his tortured earthbound skin, imagines some fantastical, child-safe otherworld, a place where someone will reach out their hand and be there for you. Just as Laura Palmer still does, somewhere.

David Lynch’s 52 second film

Lumière and Company is a 1995 movie where more than 40 directors were invited to make a short film using the Lumière brothers’ original cinématographe hand-cranked camera invented in the 1890s. Each short had to be less than 52 seconds long without synchronized sound and be made in fewer than three takes. All editing, of course, wa done in-camera. The final cut included works by Wim Wenders, Peter Greenaway, John Boorman, Merchant & Ivory, and many others. Here is David Lynch’s contribution to the project.

Neues Portishead-Album im März.
Portishead will release their first new album in a decade next year, they have confirmed. Ten years after their self-titled second record, Geoff Barrow, Beth Gibbons and Adrian Utley finally look set to return with new material. EMI looking to slash funding for RIAA, IFPI
One of the Big Four labels is apparently unhappy with its return on investment when it comes to funding industry trade groups such as the IFPI and RIAA. British label EMI, which was recently purchased by a private equity fund, is reportedly considering a significant cut to the amount of money it provides the trade groups on an annual basis.
According to figures seen by Reuters, each of the Big Four contributes approximately $132.3 million to fund the operations of the IFPI, RIAA, and other national recording industry trade groups. That money is used in part to fund the industry’s antipiracy efforts—including the close to 30,000 file-sharing lawsuits filed by the record labels in the US alone.

John Carpenter Bares His Skin & Bones
Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan began a rather solid working relationship with John Carpenter (the man needs no intro) when the duo penned the director’s “Masters of Horror” contribution “Cigarette Burns.”
The parntership would prove to be an enduring one, too, as the trio returned for season two of the series delivering the devilish chapter entitled “Pro-Life.” Since then, “Masters” has become a thing of the past and ABC’s “Fear Itself” is the wave of the future for anthology horror.

On the 5th of October 2007, the Swiss law makers adopted a new law to comply with the WIPO treaties. Thanks to the entertainment lobbies, apart from criminalizing DRM circumvention devices, you can now win a one year visit in jail if you share a copyrighted file on a P2P network.
Did anybody hear about this new law ? No. Not even Swiss citizens. The media is quiet about this.

The outrageously politically incorrect adverts from the time equality forgot
In a politically correct age, they seem like outrageous anachronisms. And there is no doubt these adverts – many taken from the first half of the last century – reveal just how much women used to be caricatured as downtrodden housewives or hair-brained office girls. Now, a new book – You Mean A Woman Can Open It?: The Woman’s Place In The Classic Age Of Advertising – brings together images which would surely cause a howl of protest if they were released today.

Nintendo toys pre-1980
