Digital Analogue: Stopmotion-Film mit alten Kameras

Schöner Stopmotion-Film von LU Sisi, in dem er oder sie alte Kameras zum Leben erweckt.

I composed a piece of music made entirely from sounds that I had recorded from a collection of antique cameras. Constructed using the digital composition software Reason, this piece carried a strong hip hop feel [ed.: Gottseidank nicht] and seemed to connect past with future technologies. To accompany this track I created a video response that captured traditional, analogue techniques yet also had a strong contemporary theme.

This short film is made entirely with stop motion animation, with over six thousand still photos shot and then edited together. The cameras are literally ‘brought to life’ here, while image composition and lighting is as carefully considered in each video frame as they would be for individual photo shots.

Ich denke mal, ich kann sagen, ich habe schon allerhand Stopmotion-Videos in diesem Internetz gesehen. Aber noch keins mit einem animierten Tattoo das dann auch noch eine Oldschool-Fotokamera als Motiv hat. Awesome!

So with the help of Tony Touch, I am getting an awesome Nerd sleeve worked on whenever I go visit Toledo. We decided to roll with an evolution of cameras at first, then more nerdy references above.

Tony got the idea from another artist to do a stop-motion video where it looks like the tattoo does itself. I brought in a single alienbee and softbox, plus my handy new remote, and we got to it.

Hopefully we’ll do this for the entire arm. I’d love to have that kind of record of progress on this :)

Mein neues Spielzeug: Nikon D5000

Ich fahre und latsche ja seit Jahren durch die Welt und schaue immer zunächst mal, ob sich da im Blickfeld nicht wahlweise eine gelungene Bildkomposition abzeichnet oder sonst was gutaussehendes zu sehen ist. Seit Jahren fahre ich in Städte rein und raus und finde die Architektur in Kombination mit Landschaft und Wetter mal mehr, mal weniger ästhetisch und schon immer dachte ich mir dann: „Hättste mal ‘ne Kamera, könnste den Kram ja auch mal knipsen“ und so weitere und na klar, ich weiß, die Hardware ersetzt keinen visuellen Spürsinn, aber mal ehrlich: Wer stellt sich mit ner Handycam irgendwohin und will ernsthaft fotografieren? (Tatsächlich sind mir mit dem iPhone mal zwei Aufnahmen gelungen, die ich auch auf einer Anspruchs-Skala irgendwo einordnen würde, aber das eher am unteren Rand… aber immerhin.)

In den letzten Wochen und Monaten wurde der Drang, mir endlich mal eine richtige Kamera zu kaufen immer dringlicher und nachdem ich erst ‘nen Fotografen gefragt hatte, wie man am besten anfinge (Antwort: „Einfach anfangen.“), habe ich mir von Stylespion-Kai einen Hardware-Tipp geben lassen, der ziemlich eindeutig und schnell fiel: „Nikon D5000, perfekt für Einsteiger und über Objektive unterhalten wir uns dann“ oder so ähnlich. Der Tipp gärte dann noch ein paar Wochen in mir rum zusammen mit dem Drang und schließlich tigerte ich heute los und voila: Meine erste richtige Kamera. Der Akku lädt grade und sollte es heute abend nicht anfangen zu schiffen, gehe ich heute noch auf Fototour. Immer wieder aufregend, wenn man neue Hobbys für sich entdeckt.

The DORYU 2-16 has the same C mount as the 16mm movie camera. A Cine-Nikkor 25mm F1.4 lens was able to be mounted in the DORYU 2-16 pistol camera. You can find the small lens for GOLDECK 16 on the table.

Hier das neueste Video von Rob „Eyeborg“ Spence, der als Kind ein Auge in einem Unfall verlor und sich nun eine wireless Videocam in ein Glasauge bauen lassen möchte. Erste Tests im Video funktionieren schon und – er hat ein rot glühendes Terminator-Auge. Whoa! (Vorsicht: Ganz am Anfang gory Augen-OP, aber nur kurz.)

Ich verfolge Rob Spences Eyeborg-Projekt schon eine ganze Weile (vorher auf Nerdcore: Die Kamera im künstlichen Auge, Eyeborg on Wired), der Mann hat bei einem Unfall vor ein paar Jahren ein Auge verloren und will es nun durch eine Kamera ersetzen. Dieses Video zeigt die ersten Versuche. Hat jemand ein Oszilloskop übrig?

Take a one eyed film maker, an unemployed engineer, and a vision for something that’s never been done before and you have yourself the EyeBorg Project. Rob Spence, Kosta Grammatis and a team of others are trying to make history by embedding a video camera and a transmitter in a prosthetic eye. That eye is going in Robs eye socket, and will record the world from a perspective that’s never been seen before.

This clip chronicles the first attempt at creating the eye– a two week hiatus of getting parts, assembling, and testing. Obviously we need a lab, and a bit more time. Can someone donate an oscilloscope?

DIY „Look Ma’ no Hands“-1st-Person-Cam

Im Comictool-Blog postet der Autor Matt Bernier Tutorials für Comiczeichner und schiesst dabei oft Fotos aus der 1st-Person-Perspektive von seinen Händen beim Zeichnen, Farbe anrühren und sowas. In einem Posting erklärt er, wie er diese Fotos hinkriegt.

I made it out of a raisin box and a badge lanyard from a temp job. The camera is held securely in place by straps in the front. I can access the camera controls through holes cut in the side. I see what’s in front of me using the digital camera’s back display. I frame my shot, set the timer, and presto, I have a me-eye-view of my hands.

Ein paar Jungs haben die alte Polaroid Fabrik in Holland gekauft und planen dort einen Relaunch der Marke und der Produktion von Filmen für die Retro-Kamera überhaupt. Daneben haben sie ein paar wundervolle Bilder der stillgelegten Fabrik online gestellt.

Die Kamera im künstlichen Auge

Vor ein paar Wochen ging eine Story rum, in der eine Künstlerin aus San Francisco jemanden suchte, der ihr eine Webcam in ein künstliches Auge baute. Ich weiß nun nicht, ob sie schon jemanden gefunden hat, ich weiß aber, dass Rob Spence genau diesem Ziel schon sehr viel näher ist. Er hat schon eine Kamera. Und selbst ich mit zwei gesunden Augen muss sagen: so ein kleines bisschen beneide ich ihn schon und hätte auch gerne eine Kamera statt eines Auges, hat sowas von Terminator-Style. Auf seinem Eyeborg-Blog schreibt er:

I am a filmmaker who lost an eye so naturally I decided to modify my prosthetic eye into a video camera.

I work as a director and producer in Toronto, Canada and I have had my work on Discovery, The CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation), Vision, and Space TV. In my most recent documentary I was an on-camera director in “Let’s All Hate Toronto” – a comic look at why Canadians are so hard on their biggest city. When it broadcast last year it got the highest ratings ever for the award winning and internationally recognized documentary strand “The Lens” on CBC Newsworld.

Currently, I am in development on a documentary about how video and humanity intersect escpecially with regards to surveillance. Appropriately, I am retro-fitting my prosthetic eye to become a wireless video camera.

Funktionierende Kameras aus Totenschädeln

Die Überschrift übertreibt kein bisschen. Wayne Martin Bleger baut Kameras aus Totenschädeln, Knochen, Bruchstücken der Twin Towers, Insekten, Organen und benutzt HIV-positives Blut als Rotfilter und die Teile funktionieren auch noch. Un-fucking-believable! Das hier ist die Kamera „Third Eye“, die Linse sitzt zwischen den Augen.

Was der Künstler vergisst zu sagen, ist, dass die Fotografien moderne Bildnisse des Dorian Gray sind, die die Seele der Fotografierten rauben und sie ganz am Ende in den Wahnsinn stürzen. Cameras from the Mouth of Madness. Jetzt mal ehrlich: eine Kamera aus ‘nem Totenschädel… ist das zu fassen? Nein, ist es nicht! Whoa… ich meine: WHOA!

Wired hat eine wunderbare Galerie mit auseinandergesägten Kameras aus dem Technischen Museum in Berlin, was mich mal wieder daran erinnert, dass ich mir endlich mal eine richtige Kamera kaufen wollte. Eine, mit der man richtige Fotografien machen kann und nicht einfach nur Schnappschüsse.
