Einer mit dem lustigen Namen Rusty Redenbacher hat das Werk der Beastie Boys gemegamixt, dazu ein schönes Video geschnitten und online gestellt. Und auch wenn ich mit Hip Hop generell nicht allzuviel anfangen kann, die Beasties waren ja schon immer die Konsenstruppe, auf die sich wirklich alle (also: wirklich alle!) einigen konnten und können.

The Kleptones – Voodoo Sabotage plus neue Videos zum David Lynch-Mashup-Album
Zuerst mal ein kleiner Arschtreter zum Wachwerden: Die Kleptones haben ihr neues Mashup-Album fast fertig (und das wird mit Sicherheit, wie alles von den Kleptones, der reine Wahnsinn) und haben einen der Tracks schonmal als Preview online gestellt:

Und vor einem Jahr hatte ich schonmal Mashed in Plastic (hier), ein David Lynch-Mashup-Album – das war alleine schonmal unfassbar großartig genug. Das kam mit Linernotes zu jedem einzelnen Track und Videos und die werden seit dem ständig aktualisiert, hier Totom mit „I’ve Told Every Little Pumpkin“ (Linda Scott aus Lynchs „Mullholand Drive“ vs Smashing Pumpkins).
Und hier nochmal mein Favorit von damals: I’ll be there in Twin Peaks, die Jackson 5 gemasht mit dem Twin Peaks-Theme. Aaaaaaw! Für die Videos unbedingt den Vimeo- und den Youtube-Channel zu Mashed in Plastic im Auge behalten.

I made the project in support of the Beastie Boys recent reissue of their “Check Your Head” album (one of my personal favorites.) The concept is that the Beastie Boys are mashed up with themselves, rapping over tracks sampling their own instrumentals, with all vocals and sampled elements coming from “Check Your Head.”
4 of the tracks are also featured on the official Beastie Boys site (www.beastieboys.com) under NEWS section (scroll down a little).

Hier hatte ich schonmal über die Beastie Boys-Ausstellung der Gallery88 gebloggt, jetzt haben sie die kompletten Artworks online gestellt. Absolut wunderbare Illustrationen, Gemälde, Zeichnungen und Skulpturen, die Auswahl von Illus für dieses Posting war ein hartes Stück Arbeit, weil da so viele abartig tolle Sachen dabei sind. Die 1988-Galerie in Los Angeles zeigt ab dem 9. Januar eine Ausstellung mit Beastie-Boys-themed Kunstwerken. Hier gibt’s ein kleines Preview, wie ich die 1988er aber kenne, werden sie noch einen ganzen Haufen der Werke online raushauen. Das Bild oben stammt von Mear One und ist aus einem anderen Ankündigungs-Posting.
