Steve Jobs Cheese Head

Ken von The Cooks Den hat Steve Jobs Kopf aus Mozarellakäse nachgebaut und verschiedene Rezepte damit zusammengestellt. Hier das Rezept für Spicy Steve Nachos Supreme, ich denke, der Kontrast aus scharfen Jalapenos und dem eher milden Mozarello-Kopf schmeckt ziemlich toll, aber jetzt mal ehrlich: Steve Jobs Kopf aus Käse? WTF?!

Ingredients

* 1 Steve Jobs Cheese Head
* Jalapenos
* Tomatoes
* Sour Cream
* Olives
* Tortilla chips

Steve has been known to be somewhat “spicy” to his underlings, especially around product launch time. What better way to celebrate this personality trait than with hot ‘n spicy nachos?

The preparation is simple — line a cast-iron pot with tortilla chips and rest Steve comfortably on top. Garnish with tomatoes, jalapenos and olives.

Be sure to show off Steve to your guests at this point, since he’ll be unrecognizable soon enough.

In Japan gibt es derzeit ein Restaurant, und das ist jetzt kein Witz, in dem man sich ein Kannibalen-Buffet bestellen kann bei dem eine essbare menschliche Figur auf einem OP-Tisch serviert wird. Dazu erhält man natürlich ein Skalpell, mit welchem man sich den Weg zu den essbaren Innereien bahnen kann. Muss ich noch erwähnen das die Puppe sogar anfängt zu bluten sobald man anschneidet? Seriously, WTF!?

Vor einem halben Jahr ging ein Video durch so ziemlich alle Blogs, in dem sich Köpfe auf Turntables drehten: Neurosonics Audiomedical Laboratory Footage. Und als ob das damals nicht schon abgefahren genug gewesen wäre, hier jetzt der Nachfolger mit Beardymans Holo-Kopf auf Turntables. I break together.

Auf Creative Review schreiben sie, das ganze wäre tatsächlich live und ohne Post-Production, die Holo-Köpfe wären also wirklich echt, was ich bezweifle, ich kenne mich mit Holo-Technik aber auch gar nicht aus, aber egal: Beardymans Turntable-Holoköpfe sind so oder so over the top awesome.

Director Chris Cairns has teamed up with Beardyman and holographic projection experts Musion to create a live performance based on his Neurosonics Audiomedical Labs film, which features a number of disembodied rapping heads…

The film above shows live footage from an initial test performance of the holographic heads, with no post-production added.

Mike, the headless Chicken

Die Story von Mike, the headless Chicken ist alles andere als neu (tatsächlich ist Mike the headless vintage Chicken from outer Space), aber Life hat grade mal wieder die Bilder vom geköpften, lebenden Hahn gebracht, außerdem hatte ich das noch nicht gebloggt, warum auch immer.

Mike sollte im September 1945 jedenfalls in den Kochtopf, was nicht so ganz klappte und er anderthalb Jahre ohne Kopf weiterlebte. Snip von Wikipedia:

On September 10, 1945, farmer Lloyd Olsen of Fruita, Colorado, had his mother-in-law around for supper and was sent out to the yard by his wife to bring back a chicken. Olsen chose a five-and-a-half month old cockerel named Mike, but failed to completely decapitate the bird. The axe missed the jugular vein, leaving one ear and most of the brain stem intact.

Despite Olsen’s botched handiwork, Mike was still able to balance on a perch and walk clumsily; it even attempted to preen and crow, although it could do neither. After the bird did not die, a surprised Mr. Olsen decided to continue to care permanently for Mike, feeding it a mixture of milk and water via an eyedropper; it was also fed small grains of corn. Mike occasionally choked on its own mucus, which the Olsen family would clear using a syringe.

Eric Testroete hat seinen eigenen Kopf in groß mit Hilfe von 3D Studio Max und Photoshop aus Papier nachgebastelt, das Ergebnis ist ein sehr weirdes Halloween-Kostüm. Vor mehr als zwei Jahren bloggte ich Fitz Kahns Illustration „Der Mensch als Industriepalast“ aus den 20er Jahren des vergangenen Jahrhunderts und seine wohl berühmteste Illu aus einer ganzen Serie, die den Mensch als Maschine darstellten.

Jetzt, rund 90 Jahre danach, hat Henning Lederer ein animierte Version davon erstellt. Wird ja auch langsam Zeit. Hier nochmal die Illu komplett gefolgt zu einer handvoll Links zu Menschmaschinen.

For thousands of years human beings have used metaphors as ways of understanding the body. We talk about our ‘ear drums’, or our ‘mind’s eye’. When we are in love we say our hearts are ‘bursting’ or ‘broken’. When we are nervous we say we have ‘butterflies in our stomach’. When we are impatient we have ‘itchy feet’. These familiar images help to explain the unfamiliar and to comprehend the complexity of our bodies.

The image above, by the artist Fritz Kahn, shows the nervous system as a complex electronic signalling system, complete with buttons, charts and busy workers. Fritz Kahn’s books and illustrations explored the inner machinery of the human body, using metaphors of modern industrial life. Kahn turned the brain into a complex factory with light projectors, conveyor belts, secretaries and cinema screens; he showed the journeys of blood cells as locomotives encircling the globe; and he compared bones to modern building materials such as reinforced concrete.

Anatomie japanischer Fabelwesen

Vor einem Jahr hatte ich erst zwei Flickr-Sets, die die Anatomie der Monster aus Godzilla zeigten. Jetzt eben die Anatomie japanischer Fabelwesen aus einem Buch von Shigeru Mizuki.

Yōkai Daizukai, an illustrated guide to yōkai authored by manga artist Shigeru Mizuki, features a collection of cutaway diagrams showing the anatomy of 85 traditional monsters from Japanese folklore (which also appear in Mizuki’s GeGeGe no Kitarō anime/manga).

Steve „Radio Guy“ Erenbergs Website ist irgendwann 1996 stehengeblieben, und damit meine ich nicht irgendwelche animierten GIFs, sondern großflächige JPGs und Image-Masks. Trotzdem habe ich mich da eben fast komplett durchgeklickt, denn der hat dort jede Menge Masken, die Elektroschocks verpassen, alte Anatomie-Modelle oder Medizinische Trainingspuppen für angehende Kieferorthopäden.

Neil Pardingtons Anatomy- und Wunderkammer-Fotografie

Ich habe mich grade eine ganze Weile durch Neil Pardingtons Fotografie-Portfolio geklickt, vor allem die Serien „The Vault“ und „The Clinic“ haben’s mir angetan. In der einen fotografiert er Hinterzimmer in Museen oder Kuriositätensammlungen, in der anderen Operationssäle und Anatomie-Museen. Die anderen Sachen sind nett, vor allem „Loudspeaker“. In a somewhat reflexive manner, this series focuses on the places we store those things that are most precious to us, and conversely those very similar spaces we store the obsolete and unwanted. In the process of making the work I have visited archives, museums, art galleries, banks and libraries.

These interior images take their lead from an earlier series ‘The Clinic’, shot in hospitals throughout New Zealand. But where ‘The Clinic’ takes its strength from rooms redolent with the histories of the patients and staff who have passed through them, the heartbeat of these images is quite different.
