Und dort habe ich nicht nur ein paar Mixe von Deejays aus LA gefunden, die ich noch kenne (DJ Dan, ), sondern auch diesen Hammer: Christopher Howell (Luna-C) gründete Anfang der 1992 das Label Kniteforce, das maßgeblich an der Popularität des grade hochkochenden Hardcore Breakbeats in den UK beteiligt war. Die Tracks des Labels folgtem oft dem Muster: ein paar Beats, ein Piano-Break, dann wieder Beats, ein Break mit einem hochgepitchten Pop-Sample und dann alles zusammen.
Hier zwei Tracks als Beispiel: Fall Down on me von Dj Force & The Evolution und Dj Luna-C mit Insanity Clause.
Und Christopher Howell hat dem kompletten Kniteforce-Katalog gerippt und online gestellt. Alle Releases, als 320kBit MP3s inklusive Artworks for free. Ich bin dann mal für den Rest des Tages wieder 16 und es ist 1990 und alle außer mir tragen Zipfelmützen.
In some ways, it could be seen as a betrayal for me to give away the music that people had spent money on. The music industry is damaged beyond repair in my humble opinion. This doesn’t mean its time to give up – rather, it means its time to look at the whole industry from a different perspective. To wax lyrical, the phoenix rises from the ashes – but first, you have to have the ashes. The whole music scene has been burning itself to death for years, as many cling to an old way that no longer works. Right now, we are all kicking the last embers of an old fire that has burned the same way for nearly 100 years. Change has come.
I would love for music to still be on vinyl. I would love for selling MP3’s to be as exciting and profitable as vinyl used to be. It would be excellent if people didn’t file share.
But I choose to live with what is, not what I wish for. And so, I choose to move forward in a riskier direction. And its a big risk – I can’t take this back or change my mind, even if I wanted to (which I don’t). On the other hand, with things being the way they are, the value of music has dropped in a very large way. This is simply the truth. People who argue it are clinging to the old model of the music industry, hiding from reality, and are in for a rude awakening eventually.
And its okay that things have changed. In this, there is freedom. The very fact that the old way is dead means that a new way can live. No longer is the record label the king of the artist. Acts like Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead have already dispensed with the need for a record label, and they are just a few of many. These 2 examples may be world famous acts, but the facts remain the same regardless of the size of the artist.
We are at a turning point, the past and the future balanced. But the weight is moving in one direction only.

Ich finde leider keine Worte, aber das Gefühl ist irgendwie warm, kribbelt und riecht nach Disconebel.
Als man Techno noch mit zwei ‘k’ schrieb, hatte das Ganze so eine wunderbar dilettantische und arrogante Haltung. Ich kram’ dann mal den alten Sucker-Hoody wieder raus, fange wieder an zu rauchen und auf den Boden zu rotzen!

Haha, hab daraufhin grad mal meine LP sammlung nach meinen KF LPs durchsucht und festgestellt das mir eh nur 4 fehlen. aber ansonsten, sehr sehr nice jetzt alles noch als mp3 zu haben.
Gibt es keine Möglichkeit, den kompletten Katalog zu laden, denn die LPs sind ja offenbar nicht vollständig. Oder habe ich etwas übersehen?
@Andreas: Da hast Du was übersehen, ja… jeder Release ist einzeln als ZIP runterladbar…
was habe ich denn übersehen? Gibt es einen Link zum Download des kompletten Katalogs oder doch nur einzeln als ZIP-Files?
@Andreas: Nee, einen Komplettlink habe ich auch nicht gesehen… aber die einzelnen Releases sind runterladbar… musste halt ein paar mal klicken.

hab echt ne ewigkeit gesucht um was von kniteforce zu finden und war begeistert als ich die seite mit den downloads gefunden hab.
hab mir direkt ein par zip-dateien runtergeladen…und dann die große entäuschung!!!
konnte keine datei entpacken, weder mit winzip, noch mit winrar.
habs auch auf nem anderen rechner versucht…keine chance.
reperaturfunktion sagt…Archiv ist zerstört.
gibt es einen tip

@christian: Ich probiere die oben verlinkten Downloads mal aus und mach ggf. ein Update. Danke für den Hinweis.
Wenn Du selber was weißt, wegen nem neuen Link, gerne hier posten… Kniteforce war auch so ne (kurze) musikalische Phase von mir.
Hab mein Problem den Kniteforce-Leuten geschildert, und bekam als Antwort, dass es wohl daran liegt, dass ich einen PC (Windows) nutze und er mit Mac arbeitet. Problem ist bekannt und hängt mit dem Betriebssystem bzw. Version von WINZIP o. WINRAR zusammen.
Ich nutze Windows 7.
Probiere noch etwas rum, wenn ich keinen Erfolg habe, nehme ich einfach meinen Kumpel in die Pflicht, der ist MAC-user und schuldet mir noch was.
