Ich bin schon öfter über dieses Bild mit einem Zitat von Jim Jarmush gestolpert, es hat mich immer an Picassos „Wenn es etwas zu stehlen gibt, stehle ich es“ erinnert. Jetzt habe ich die komplette Quelle gefunden, ein fantastischer kleiner Text von Jarmush über seine Regie-Philosophie.
Rule #1: There are no rules.
Rule #2: Don’t let the fuckers get ya.
Rule #3: The production is there to serve the film.
Rule #4: Filmmaking is a collaborative process.
Rule #5: Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.”

Sehr schön, ich klaue auch gerne und einige in meinem freundeskreis kritisieren mich deswegen. Habs mir gleich ausgedruckt und werde es aufhängen dann ist ab jetzt schluss mit mich rechtfertigen müssen.

Sowas ähnliches hat Marcel Duchamp mal gesagt. Zumindest gehts in die ähnliche Richtung:
