Über das hier mache ich mir schon seit einem Jahr Gedanken, kein Scheiß! Jetzt, da sich die 00ers, die 2000er, die 00er – die 00ers klingt am besten! – dem Ende zuneigen, da überlege ich, was die besten Songs des Jahrzehnts waren. Und da fallen mir so tierisch viele ein, von den Strokes über Interpol und dem Tokyo Police Club bis hin zu Joanna Newsom. The Vines, Okkervil River, Franz Ferdinand, The National, Hot Chip, die obigen Gorillaz… meine Güte, was war das für ein fantastisches Jahrzehnt in Musik.
Diese waren wohl die zehn Jahre meines Lebens, in der ich wohl die meiste Musik gehört habe. In den Neunzigern war ich bis gegen Ende zu sehr im Techno-Underground verhaftet, um da vom guten Pop oder Indie irgendwas außer Grunge mitzubekommen, mein Mind hat sich erst später geöffnet, quasi, and the Rest followed. Ich habe zwar schon eine relativ feste Vorstellung davon, welche Songs in diese Liste der 100 besten Songs der 00ers reingehören, aber…
Deshalb brauche ich Eure Hilfe, denn mir ist vollkommen klar, dass ich, obwohl ich unzählige Platten gekauft und gehört habe, ich doch genauso unzählige Perlen verpasst haben muss. Deshalb bitte ich um Eure Lieblingssongs aus diesem Jahrzehnt in den Kommentaren. Es geht natürlich um Pop, aber auch um Indie, Metal, Hip-Hop (Jawohl! Jay-Zs „99 Problems“ würde beispielsweise auch ohne Euch in meiner Liste auftauchen) und Electronica.

Pop? Schwierig.
Die 00er geprägt haben, für mich jedenfalls, Heaven Shall Burn vor allem mit The Weapon They Fear – harte Musik, mit hochintelligenten Texten über wichtige Themen und sonst jetzt schon eher Pop – Hatebreed -. Auf jeden Fall auch Volbeat, obwohl die aktuelle Scheibe nicht den Langzeithörfaktor der davorigen hat – tolle Partymusik.
