„Stand by me“ around the World – Playing for Change

Mark Johnson reist um die Welt und nimmt „globale“ Songs auf. Jeweils ein Straßenmusiker nimmt eine der Spuren auf, die am Ende zu einem kompletten Song zusammengefügt werden, im obigen Fall ist das „Stand by me“, aufgenommen von 37 Musikern, die sich nie gesehen haben. Snip von der Projekt-Website:

„Stand by me“ is a featured song around the world in which 37 musicians from five continents assemble together to create one unified track. The musicians have never met in person and connect through their music. Each track is added to the song as the musicians are recorded LIVE outside across the globe. The end result is a remarkable human connection and a powerful song.

Nächstes Jahr soll eine DVD zum Projekt erscheinen, mit den Einnahmen sollen die beteiligten Musiker soziale Projekte in ihren Ländern unterstützen. Hier ein Auszug aus einem Review der Doku auf Variety:

Wanting a movie to end so you can run out and buy the soundtrack may not seem like huge endorsement, but in this case, it is. “Playing for Change: Peace Through Music,” a pan-global survey — and marriage — of varying styles of world music, is often so exhilarating, its neo-hippie utopianism doesn’t seem so implausible. Sure to be a festival hit, the docu (perhaps with a tidier title?) could make inroads into specialty markets and TV.

  2. als ich das vorhin hier gesehen habe, dachte ich: “noch ein video wo musiker den change promoten around the world”, gerade eben hab ich dann reingehört und war nach ca. 1 min total hin und weg! nicht nur, dass die idee ganz wunderbar ist, die umsetzung ist mindestens genauso fantastisch! echt super cool! danke für den post :) wär cool, wenn du nochmal an das teil erinnerst, wenn es dann erscheint :)

  8. Fantastisch! Der Song ist ja schon immer Hammer gewesen! Aber diese Idee, die man mit dem Projekt jetzt noch verfolgt, klasse! Das kann und muss man einfach unterstützen, einfach genial! Ne Erinnerung zur DVD Veröffentlichung wäre wirklich klasse! Dann stürmen wir die Plattenläden ;)
