Death Row Family (Zen'in shikei)

Takanori, the son of a yakuza boss, is offered as a scapegoat to another syndicate and sent to jail for a crime he didn't commit. Two years later, he is released from prison. After reuniting with his girlfriend, Takanori meets with his older brother Satoshi. He tells Takanori of his plan to rob the safe of the Yoshidas, a local family running a loan shark operation. Asked to join in the robbery, Takanori balks. "Worm out and your girl will pay with her life!" his brother threatens. With no option, Takanori agrees to take part in the theft. Breaking into the Yoshidas' home, they steal their safe. However, during the heist, they kill Shoji, the family's youngest son. Afterward, Satoshi admits to Takanori that their parents were planning to steal it for themselves the next day. Worried they wouldn't share in the haul, he thought to jump the gun and take it for himself. Now resigned to a life of crime, Takanori joins his family on their true-to-life tale into the black humor hell of unremitting crime and conscienceless murder!

Last Flag Flying

In 2003, 30 years after they served together in the Vietnam War, former Navy Corps medic Richard “Doc” Shepherd (Steve Carell) re-unites with ex-Marines Sal (Bryan Cranston) and Mueller (Laurence Fishburne) on a different type of mission: to bury Doc’s son, a young Marine killed in the Iraq War. Doc decides to forgo burial at Arlington Cemetery and, with the help of his old buddies, takes the casket on a bittersweet trip up the East Coast to his home in suburban New Hampshire. Along the way, Doc, Sal and Mueller reminisce and come to terms with shared experiences of the war that continue to shape their lives. Director Richard Linklater and author Darryl Ponicsan collaborated on the screenplay which follows the trio as they wrestle with the pangs of war both past and present.

The Deuce

Watch a special advance premiere of The Deuce, now streaming on HBO. Created by George Pelecanos and David Simon and starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Deuce follows the story of the legalization and subsequent rise of the porn industry in New York’s Times Square from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s, exploring the rough-and-tumble world at the pioneering moments of what would become the billion-dollar American sex industry.

Borg vs McEnroe

It’s the summer of 1980 and Björn Borg (Sverrir Gudnason) is the top tennis player in the world, dominating the sport both on and off the court. A powerful and rigorously disciplined player, there is only one obstacle in his pursuit of a record-breaking fifth Wimbledon championship: the highly talented but ferociously abrasive young American, John McEnroe (a perfectly cast Shia LaBeouf).

With three days until the tournament begins, Borg trains religiously in his lavish Monaco home, aided by his coach and mentor Lennart (Stellan Skarsgård) and girlfriend Mariana (Tuva Novotny). But McEnroe's explosive confidence and wrecking-ball persona continue to infiltrate Borg's ice-cool and normally unshakable temperament. With each man the antithesis of the other, both players delve into their formative memories as the climactic tournament draws near and anticipation reaches fever pitch.

Visceral and breathlessly tense, the match itself - regarded as one of the greatest of all time - would mark the pinnacle of the ‘Fire and Ice’ rivalry between Borg and McEnroe; an exhilarating battle of personalities that set the world of tennis alight.

Wind River

An FBI agent teams up with a veteran game tracker to investigate a murder that occurred on a Native American reservation. Wind River is a 2017 American thriller film directed and written by Taylor Sheridan in his directorial debut. The film stars Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Jon Bernthal and Kelsey Asbille.
