Mir ist nicht ganz klar, was die mit „Phone Model“ meinen, aber die Implikationen sind klar und werden in der Studie auch explizit erwähnt: „Brain-to-Text and the decoding approach are well suited for eventual real-time online application on desktop computers“. Here, we show for the first time that continuously spoken speech can be decoded into the expressed words from intracranial electrocorticographic (ECoG) recordings.Specifically, we implemented a system, which we call Brain-To-Text that models single phones, employs techniques from automatic speech recognition (ASR), and thereby transforms brain activity while speaking into the corresponding textual representation. The computational phone models in combination with language information make it possible to reconstruct words in unseen spoken utterances solely based on neural signals (see Supplementary Video). Despite the fact that the evaluations in this article have been performed offline, all processing steps of Brain-to-Text and the decoding approach are well suited for eventual real-time online application on desktop computers.
