April April 2015: Pacman on Googlemaps, Amazon Dash Button, Samsungs Galaxy Blade, NSA vs Flashmobs

Ich sammle hier heute (eigentlich morgen, aber Google hat seinen April-Dings schon online gestellt, which is why) die Netz-Aprilscherze 2015, der erste dürfte Pacman auf Googlemaps sein:

1. Play PAC-MAN in Google Maps (Danke Marco!)

You can now play the classic arcade game PAC-MAN in Google Maps with streets as your maze. Avoid Blinky, Pinky, Inky, (and Clyde!) as you swerve the streets of some famous places around the world. But eat the pac-dots fast, because this game will only be around for a little while.

2. Introducing Amazon Dash Button: Place it. Press it. Get it.

Keep Dash Button handy in the kitchen, bath, laundry, or anywhere you store your favorite products. When you're running low, simply press Dash Button and Amazon quickly delivers household favorites at the same low prices offered on Amazon.com, so you can skip the last-minute trip to the store.

3. Samsung Galaxy Blade

Samsung is proud to announce the world’s first smart knife with smartphone capabilities, the Galaxy BLADE edge. Galaxy BLADE edge is the ultimate cooking companion, made with the modern chef in mind. Building on the expertise it has already displayed with its Chef Collection series, Samsung is taking its commitment to culinary expertise and cutting-edge technology even further – literally.

Running on the latest OS, the Galaxy BLADE edge comes with all the incredible features of the Galaxy S6, but its edge is so sharp and strong that the device can also serve as a chef’s knife. In fact, the Galaxy BLADE edge could very well render all the knives in your kitchen obsolete.

4. heise: NSA-Skandal: Facebook unterwandert Flashmob-Verabredungen

5. Quartz hires AI-powered tech reporter Marvin Prime to publish disruptive insights

We are pleased to announce the hiring of Quartz’s new technology reporter, Marvin Prime, whose insights are entirely the product of artificial intelligence. Prime is a true digital native who will grace the world with stories no mere human could find.

“We believe our global reporting needs a local touch—that’s why we look for hires with on-the-ground experience and language skills,” Quartz editor-in-chief Kevin Delaney said. “Creating a reporter who is fluent in Markov chaining to cover Silicon Valley was a no-brainer.”

Dying Light is getting a patch tomorrow to change the game for one day only.

"In an emergency broadcast, the Global Relief Effort has urged the survivors of Harran to use extreme caution when handling Antizin injections," a press release reads. "The latest batch of Antizin has been exposed to a foreign contaminant. The chemical in question is non-toxic, but anyone affected might experience odd side-effects for up to 24 hours."

10. Scientific American: Werewolf plant waits for the light of the full moon

dn27277-1_300It's the only known plant species that relies on the lunar cycle for survival – and we found out by complete accident.

At night, Ephedra foeminea, a non-flowering relative of conifers and cycads, secretes small translucent globules of sugary liquid to attract nocturnal pollinating insects. The globules are like tiny beads oozing out from cone-shaped female organs, where the seeds are produced. If a pollinator lands on a globule, any pollen it is carrying is absorbed via the liquid into the female cone, where it fertilises the seed.

11. Microsoft launches MS-DOS Mobile

Microsoft is going back to where productivity started for millions of people, launching a beautifully simple OS.

The MS-DOS Mobile preview is an essential download. Whether you’re going back to BASIC, or simply booting into DOS for the first time, MS-DOS Mobile marks the next step in Microsoft’s reinvention of productivity.

14. CERN researchers confirm existence of the Force: „Researchers at the Large Hadron Collider just recently started testing the accelerator for running at the higher energy of 13 TeV, and already they have found new insights into the fundamental structure of the universe. Though four fundamental forces – the strong force, the weak force, the electromagnetic force and gravity – have been well documented and confirmed in experiments over the years, CERN announced today the first unequivocal evidence for the Force. “Very impressive, this result is,” said a diminutive green spokesperson for the laboratory.“ (Danke CarFreiTag!)

We had to give it serious thought but, empathising with Tina’s impending loss, we told her 'yes, we would be honoured to preserve Frodo’s pelt, for posterity, in a pair of uber-comfy shoes.'“

19. LG G Flex 2 Nature Edition: Das erste biomorphe Smartphone
