West Banks Garden of Tear Gas Granades

Vor 10 Monaten haben sie im palästinensischen Kaff Bilin einen Garten in Tränengas-Granaten angepflanzt: West Bank - Garden Of Tear Gas Grenades. (via Urban Shit)

Mohammed Khatib, a village organizer, said Wednesday that the unusual garden is meant to show that life can spring from death. Bilin has become a symbol of Palestinian protests against Israeli policies in the West Bank. The village’s struggle to regain land taken by the barrier was the subject of “Five Broken Cameras,” a documentary nominated for an Oscar [2012].

Derzeit sieht es in Bilin nicht ganz so rosig aus: „Israeli forces opened fire with tear gas grenades at Palestinian demonstrators in the village of Bilin near Ramallah protesting Israel's ongoing assault on Gaza on Thursday, causing dozens to suffer from excessive tear gas inhalation.“
