Microsoft buys Nokias Phone-Business

Microsoft kauft Nokias Handysparte für 7 Millarden Dollar. Holy shit! Von der NYTimes: „Microsoft said it has reached an agreement to acquire the handset and services business of Nokia for more than $7.1 billion, in an effort to transform Microsoft’s business for a mobile era that has largely passed it by.“

[update] Aus dem Switch Blog der Washington Post: „The deal cements a partnership that has been central to Microsoft’s mobile device strategy in recent years. Two years ago, Nokia announced that it would adopt Microsoft’s software for its smartphones. The new deal would make that alliance permanent.“

Der Deal ist ein 7 Milliarden Dollar fettes „Weiter so“ und das hat ja bisher auch hervorragend hingehauen für Nokia und Microsoft. Nicht.
