QTrax 'Free And Legal P2P' Network Signs EMI -- But No P2P Yet

Qtrax has signed a deal with EMI, meaning that it now has standing agreements with the smallest major label, as well as the largest (Universal), to allow users to download free music in an ad-supported environment.

However, peer-to-peer is not a big part of the deal at this point, Qtrax's slogan ("the world's first free and legal P2P music download network") to the contrary. The first round of labels' music will apparently come from Qtrax's servers, rather than from users of Qtrax or P2P networks. However, Qtrax will apparently be able to music available on P2P to the labels, which would then have the option to block certain songs from appearing in the network.
