Bob Dylan's least comprehensible interviews - videos
New York Magazine has compiled a set of links to the ten most incomprehensible Bob Dylan interviews of all time. Man, when Dylan rambles, he really rambles. It must be that all his articulateness neurons have been given over to writing some of the greatest poetry in living memory, leaving none left over for pointless little TV interviews.
Thomas to appeal RIAA's $222,000 file-sharing verdict
In an appearance on CNN along with her attorney Brian Toder, Jammie Thomas announced her decision to appeal last week's $222,000 willful copyright infringement verdict. The basis of her appeal will be jury instruction no. 15, which told the jurors that they could find Thomas liable for copyright infringement if she made the recordings available over a file-sharing network, "regardless of whether actual distribution has been shown."

The Birth of The Simpsons
In the mid-1980s, producer James L. Brooks was hired to develop a comedy series called "The Tracey Ullman Show" for the fledgling Fox TV network. Ullman was immensely popular in England … but Brooks wasn’t sure her humor would play well in the United States. He figured that inserting short cartoon segments between her comedy sketches might help keep the show interesting to American audiences.
Brooks was a fan of counterculture cartoonist Matt Groening [wiki] (pronounced Graining), whose weekly cartoon strip Life in Hell runs in The Village Voice and more than 200 other "alternative" newspapers. He had a Life in Hell poster in his office, and one day he remarked to an assistant, "We should get this guy and have him animate for us."

Y-Wing Beats X-Wing, Gold Squadron Finally Kicks Ass
The X-Wing fighter at Plaster Blaster 6 this weekend got all the glory. But the model rocket with the biggest heart/size ratio goes to the underdog of a space bomber based on the Y-Wing fighter. Ion cannons? Check. More torpedoes than the X-Wing? Check. Fewer parts to tear off on liftoff? Check...not that it lived to see a second flight, but at least it finish in a better form and had a longer voyage.

SZ: Die sieben Kreativregeln - "Ausflippen ist harte Arbeit"
Mindestens.

Best of Screensavers
Long, long time ago screensavers have been used to prevent the so-called screen-burn-effect — a permanent disfigurement of areas on a CRT display caused by non-moving text or graphics being displayed continuously for long periods of time. To avoid this effect, screen savers have been used to blank the screen or fill it with moving images or patterns when the computer was not in use. Today, screensavers don’t serve their original purpose and are primarily used for entertainment.
And I can prove it.TKKG, die Nazis in sp

Why we curse. What the F***?
Fucking became the subject of congressional debate in 2003, after NBC broadcast the Golden Globe Awards. Bono, lead singer of the mega-band U2, was accepting a prize on behalf of the group and in his euphoria exclaimed, "This is really, really, fucking brilliant" on the air. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which is charged with monitoring the nation's airwaves for indecency, decided somewhat surprisingly not to sanction the network for failing to bleep out the word. Explaining its decision, the FCC noted that its guidelines define "indecency" as "material that describes or depicts sexual or excretory organs or activities" and Bono had used fucking as "an adjective or expletive to emphasize an exclamation."

While there isn't any real human nudity in this video, I think the shrieks and wails of a woman being brought to orgasm but a Johnny 5-inspired robot are NSFW, even if the action is shot tastefully in silhouette.

Will we ever send humans to Mars?
In the summer of 1969, two weeks after Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon, rocket scientist Wernher von Braun delivered to Nasa a detailed, fully costed plan for landing humans on Mars.
Dr von Braun, who had masterminded America's lunar programme, intended to send astronauts on an initial excursion to the Red Planet lasting two years, with a fly-by of Venus on the journey home.
The mission was to reach Mars by 1982 and would be accomplished using a nuclear-powered rocket. This would be parked in Earth orbit and used to ferry 800-tonne spaceships to Mars and back.
Internet Allstars ‘01: Where are they now?
“Bootylicious” was dominating the airwaves , Rush Hour 2 was battling American Pie 2 for box office (if not artistic) greatness and the US was more concerned about stem cells than homeland security. It was August in 2001, and just because the Internet bubble had already burst, the internet itself was still going strong. With a full six years of technological growth and consumer adoption, how has the internet changed?
