LastFM: Now form a Band - A Campaign for better Music
In the old days, if you wanted a career in music, there were only a few ways to do it. And once you managed to get the attention of a record company, lots of other people – like managers, A&R reps, producers, label executives (even accountants !) – would get involved with your music. Some of those people were great. Some of them weren’t. Things are different now. Music is changing.
The Campaign for Better Music is here to say: it doesn’t have to be like the old days. We’re going to show you how to produce, promote and distribute your music, without spending a load of money, and without lots of other people getting involved. We’re here to call for better music. If you don’t like the music that’s thrown at you, then get out there and do it yourself. With the tools and methods we’ll show you, there’s no reason why you can’t make it. Things are changing in music – you should be a part of it.
Now Form A Band.
Kimba The White Lion is a wonderful, captivating series. When first shown in America, it was praised universally for its stories of love, compassion, and strength of character. For me, the most wonderful thing about it was its message of understanding for all life, for the need for unity between humans and animals.

The Corporation Teil 1 | 2
(Wikipedia)
Is Chewbacca trapped in my nightstand?
One day I opened my nightstand and realized that it sounded exactly like Chewbacca. I hope Darth Vader doesn't break into my apartment with a can of WD-40.

Did Someone Just Steal Francis Ford Coppola’s Next Movie? This Redefines Piracy!
Five armed burglars broke into Francis Ford Coppola's Buenos Aires HQ on Wednesday, subdued a collaborator of the filmmaker and stole a camera and computers.Helmer, whose upcoming pic is "Youth Without Youth," was not in at the time, but the stolen computers had the script for his next production, police said Thursday. The house in the artsy, leafy district of Palermo doubles as the base for his production outfit in Argentina. A Coppola spokeswoman in the capital told the Argentine media that a reward would be offered for the return of the script and "a lot of the creative work" on the computer.

Exquisite Eggshell Carvings
Remember the highly praised Faberge eggs from the courts of Russian tzar? Modern masters of eggshell filigree carving make similarly detailed works, using only the nature-given material: eggshell itself, cut in creative patterns with a high intensity precision laser beam.
Some of the fascinating galleries available on the web include the work of Ron Cheruka (you can also buy his work there, just make sure of the proper HANDLING and shipping) and Gary LeMaster, the Eggshell Sculptor.
Hiding Information in an Image's Histogram
Here's a clever little trick for Photoshop nerds: Ironic Sans presented the image on the left as a puzzle for their readers. Turns out the histogram (on the right) displays the skyline of New York City.

Matt Gardiner's recent incarnation of his "Oribotics" (robotic origami flowers) project adds a networked component that allows visitors to send SMS messages to the cyborg buds from their cellphones as well as input control messages through a web-based interface.
Youtube: Christian, the Lion - Reunion
Two people raised this lion cub who they named Christian, and sadly he got too big for them to take care of so they decided to release him to live as a wild lion. Well, in this footage, a year has passed and it looks like Christian's adapted to living with a pride of lions when his old friends come back to visit him. Watch closely and you can see the look of pure disbelief that dawns on his muzzle - it's awesome.

Studentenproteste, Militäreinsatz, Tränengas, Stockhiebe, Verhaftungen und Tote - business as usual.

The Death of the Reader
Seven years ago, Philip Roth put it like this: "Every year, 70 readers die and only two are replaced." We are reaching the end of literary culture - rather as we have just about reached the end of poetry. It will take rather longer for the novel to reach the same atrophied, marginalised state as the contemporary poem (the last poet that Mark Lawson had on Radio 4's flagship arts programme Front Row was, I gather, Pam Ayres), but it will happen, sales of On Chesil Beach notwithstanding.

The 8 Most Needlessly Detailed Wikipedia Entries
They say "knowledge is power," but "they" seem to forget that most of our knowledge is devoted to subjects that are completely useless and retarded. If you could somehow harness just the brain power that's currently being spent on, say, memorizing fantasy football stats, you could probably cure cancer.
Nowhere is humanity's obsession with the inconsequential more obvious than on Wikipedia, where even the most obscure topics get propped up on enormous blocks of text.

20 Things You Didn't Know About... Nothing
1 There is vastly more nothing than something. Roughly 74 percent of the universe is “nothing,” or what physicists call dark energy; 22 percent is dark matter, particles we cannot see. Only 4 percent is baryonic matter, the stuff we call something.
2 And even something is mostly nothing. Atoms overwhelmingly consist of empty space. Matter’s solidity is an illusion caused by the electric fields created by subatomic particles.
Geek Chic: Gaming Hits the Mainstream
Laugh all you want at the thousands of gamers who stood in lines for hours to nab a copy of "Halo 3" for its midnight release Monday, but you're in the minority. Earning more money in 24 hours than the "Spiderman" movies and the latest Harry Potter tome -- $170 million, "Halo 3" symbolizes the move of video games -- once the province of socially awkward, pimply faced teenage boys -- into the mainstream.
